happy halloween!

inspiraton?

i'm not sure where my inspiration for this outfit is. i just thought it up when iwas looking in my closet this morning. my apologies for not posting ann outfit yesterday, it was just an off day - i din't even go out, just sat in my room, watching mad men and doodling [ yes, like everyone else, i've been hooked]. we can say my inspiration was trying to look better for y'all.

i'm not gonna lie, i loved posing today. for some reason i was having so much fun with it. maybe i'm getting a bit better at this, and i was channeling a bit of my inner America's Next Top Model.

you know what, i think i was inspired by my clothes in general, i really love each of the pieces i was wearing - when i first got that jacket, i never took it off. and this skirt is awesome! and TOMS...

i think i'm learning just to have fun with fashion. and to find outfits that i love, not because of any specific inspiration, but just because. well, this is a learning project after all.

...

i feel like my posting lately has been a little lame. not necessarily my outfits, but what i'm saying, what i'm typing. it's uninspired. maybe you guys don't really care. i don't know. if you have any advice i would love to hear it! please let me know if you have any opinions.

fashion-ish

my outfit isn't fierce of fabulous today. my apologies.

i did play dress up with my friends though. I helped Eliza, who mixed these sheer pattered tights with boots, cardigan, a-line denim skirt, scarf, and necklace. she wouldn't let me take photos, but i can assure you she looks fabulous.

jordi, her roommate became a doll for halloween, with little bits from me. hopefully i can get some pictures soon. *wink* i enjoy dressing up everyone else, even though i'm not in a mood to look fabulous.

so, instead of an outfit post of my own, i'm posting all the clothes i would get if i had a limitless bank account. sadly, that is not the reality.
[is this dress not adorable?]
urban outfitters
[so cute!]
urban outfitters

[i need a good, bright colored cardigan, red or purple]
urban outfitters
[i really, really want a green cargo jacket, not really sure why]
fred flare
[and grey skinny jean, i think they'd be fun to style]
old navy

[isn't modcloth pulling out the stops recently? all of this stuff is adorable!}

[ i really, really, really want some boots]

so, what about you? is there anything this season you really want?

trick or treat!

last night, all the kids from ada jenkins, and random kids from the community cam and trick or treated in our dorms. my hall finally pulled themselves together and decorated, and everything looks awesome!
[bess looks like a creep]
[perla]
[rebecca and damya, the witches]
[mj lives!]
so, the ada jenkins center is a combination after school program, ymca, free clinic, type of place to serve the lower income parts of davidson. i tutor third and fourth graders there, but all types of davidson students tutor the kids there, and i absolutely love it. the kids are adorable and al have these huge, awesome personalities, which also means i can show more of my own attitude, so much fun.

the great thing is just having a chance to interact with the kids, especially because they don't get that much interaction with their parents at home. i would really, really, really suggest anyone to tutor at any after school program near them, is such a great way to get involved and build relationships with a group of awesome kids. and do awesome things like halloween...

its like magic!

it must be magic, one dress and tree different looks? why yes! it is halloween, after all.
i'm not really a "remix-er", but i guess thats what this post is. start with a black dress, belt, cream shirt, and a girl who needs to relax and have fun for a sec from her school day.
abracadabra! alakazam! a witches costume! the girl just needs some tights, a different belt, and a witches hat. now she can lead kids around to trick-or-treat and have tons of fun - just look at the possibilities of that hat!

i think i was having too much fun. anyways, our story-girl needs an outfit for a night on the town [and maybe the weardrobe contest]...take away the hat [awwhh, bummer] and add some heels.
poof! lovely!

okay, enough story-telling, i just needed a break from the stress of a paper due tomorrow and my hall NOT being decorated for the ada kids i'll be leading through, and finding out copeland broke up [ see below]. who would have thought blogging as de-stressful? cool. it may also have been all the candy i ate, and the fact that the guy who caught me packing up from the photo-taking [ minus tights, heels, and hat] totally flirted with me. score! i don't have another entry to make into my journal of awkward moments.

so, halloween starts tonight. what are you dressing up as? going trick-or-treating?

what has love become?

"you don't have to be ashamed
'cause you're a miracle through and through
oh, and you don't have to be ashamed
of the miracle inside of you"
copeland is breaking up.

my favorite band, whose lyrics describe my soul, whose tee shirt i wore yesterday, is breaking up. i am so upset. i'm going to miss them.
"and what could be an anchor here
with a storm on the rise?
when you're never meant to see so clear
when smoke gets in your eyes
and the man in the moon
never makes his replies understood"

at least there is one last tour. i can go to that. sigh. sorry for the lyrics and emotion explosion, i just had post on my sorrow. maybe i'll look froward to new projects? i can hope. have you guys ever had one of your favorite bands break up on you? who?

"sleep now moon
i'll watch over her while the sun is up
and you'll have her eyes again soon
it's a glorious day
and my lonely heart is tired again
and i am, starved for her attention"

goodbye copeland. i have loved you well.

apples!

apparently today is apple festival day. or at least in the school cafeteria. we had apple pie, apple fritters, apples and pork, apple cider [sooo good! ohmygosh!] and a whole bunch of fresh apples. i'm in such an autumn mood now, i love apples! i want to have an apple picking dance, or a whole holiday devoted to autumn.

i have just been informed that that holiday is actually called thanksgiving. oh. please ignore the girl who was given a keyboard.
i diy'ed myself come cutoff shorts [jorts?] last night, as iv'e seen a lost of bloggers with the rolled-up cutoffs and tights look. i think i like it.
copeland tee. "you are my sunshine". probably ranks in top two bands and top five shirts.

a modern day snow white? [woah, i actually like that a lot.]

i tried to balance it on my head. i failed.

so. apples are delicious. i don't blame eve in the least [well...nevermind]. i feel like snow white goes twenty-first century, and i like it. i also lover fall, in case you hadn't figured that out yet. i actually get to do tons of fall-y things, like today, my hall is carving pumpkins, and then decorating in spooky halloween fashion, for the ada kids. you see, the kids i, and many other students, tutor at ada jenkins come from families who can't afford halloween. so, davidson throws it for them! i'm so excited, and have like 600 pieces of candy between my roommate and i. expect a post on it tomorrow, i love my witch's costume.
